Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground meat over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, diced carrots, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, tomato paste, and dried thyme. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the frozen peas to the skillet and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes over the top, smoothing with a spatula.
- Dot the mashed potatoes with butter and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the mashed potatoes are golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
