Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, mayonnaise
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.
- Add the bread crumbs, red onion, cilantro, chipotle pepper, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly coat with oil. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are heated through and have a crispy exterior.
- Toast the burger buns in the skillet for 1-2 minutes, until lightly browned.
- Assemble the burgers with your choice of toppings and enjoy!
