  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 burger buns
  • Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, avocado, etc.)

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 burger buns
  • Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, avocado, etc.)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mash 1 1/2 cans of black beans with a fork or potato masher.
  • Add the remaining 1/2 can of whole black beans to the mashed beans for texture.
  • Stir in 1/2 cup bread crumbs, 1/4 cup red onion, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 cup cilantro, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  • Mix until well combined, then form the mixture into 4 patties.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are heated through and have a crispy exterior.
  • Toast the burger buns in the skillet for 1-2 minutes, until lightly browned.
  • Assemble the burgers with your choice of toppings and enjoy!
