Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together 1 1/2 cups of softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in 4 large eggs, one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt; gradually mix into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in 1/2 cup of milk, followed by 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts and 1/2 cup of raisins.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Slice and serve the delicious Bishop Cake.
