Instructions

  • Add the beef heart cubes and brown on all sides, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
  • In the same pot, add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced jalapeno peppers. Cook until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  • Return the browned beef heart to the pot and bring the stew to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours, or until the beef heart is tender.
  • Stir in the chopped cilantro and let the stew simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Serve the spicy beef heart stew hot, with crusty bread or rice.
