Instructions

  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  • In a bowl, mix the ground beef with 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into 4 patties.
  • Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and let it melt.
  • While the patties are cooking, heat a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until they are soft and golden brown. Set aside.
  • In a separate skillet, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
  • Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
  • Assemble the burgers by spreading the remaining BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a patty with melted cheese on top of the sauce, followed by a spoonful of caramelized onions and a slice of bacon. Top with the other half of the bun.
