Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup milk
- 12 basketball-shaped fondant toppers
- Vanilla frosting (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 3/4 cups of flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream 1/2 cup of softened butter with 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in 2 eggs, one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with 2/3 cup of milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, frost each cupcake with vanilla frosting and place a basketball-shaped fondant topper on top of each cupcake.
