Baked salmon has a rich history dating back to ancient times when it was a staple in the diets of indigenous peoples in the Pacific Northwest. The dish gained popularity in the 19th century as chefs in Europe and America began experimenting with different cooking methods for salmon. Today, it is a beloved dish enjoyed worldwide for its delicate flavor and versatility. Chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver have popularized their own versions of baked salmon, while restaurants in coastal regions like Seattle and Vancouver are renowned for serving the freshest and most succulent baked salmon dishes. The key to a perfect baked salmon lies in using high-quality, fresh fish and seasoning it with complementary flavors like lemon, dill, and garlic. For a unique twist, consider cedar plank grilling for a smoky, aromatic flavor.
