Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil

- 1 pound fava beans, shelled

- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Then, soak the rice in cold water for 30 minutes and drain.
- In a small bowl, steep the saffron threads in hot water for 10 minutes to infuse the color and flavor.
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the fava beans to the pot and sauté for 5 minutes. Then, season with salt, black pepper, and ground cumin.
- Add the drained rice to the pot and stir gently to combine with the fava beans and onions.
- Pour the saffron-infused water over the rice and gently mix to distribute the saffron evenly.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a lid, and let the rice steam for 30 minutes until fluffy and fully cooked.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and transfer to a serving platter. Serve hot and enjoy!
