Ingredients
- 1 cup of white rice
- 4 cups of whole milk
- 1/2 cup of white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of raisins (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of white rice, 4 cups of whole milk, 1/2 cup of white sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30-35 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. If using, fold in 1/2 cup of raisins at this point.
- Transfer the rice pudding to a serving dish or individual bowls, sprinkle with a little extra ground cinnamon for garnish if desired, and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
