Almond macaroons have a rich history dating back to the 8th century in Italy, where they were first created by monks. These delectable treats made their way to France in the 16th century, where they gained popularity among the aristocracy. Today, almond macaroons are enjoyed worldwide and are a staple in many bakeries and patisseries. Renowned chefs like Pierre Hermé and Ladurée have elevated the almond macaroon to an art form, with delicate flavors and vibrant colors. The key to a perfect almond macaroon lies in the balance of almond flour, sugar, and egg whites, resulting in a chewy yet airy texture. For the best almond macaroons, head to Ladurée in Paris or try making them yourself using a trusted recipe.
