Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of turkey breast, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika.
  • Add the thinly sliced turkey breast to the marinade, making sure each piece is coated evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  • Preheat the oven to 175°F (80°C).
  • Remove the marinated turkey from the refrigerator and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess marinade.
  • Place the turkey slices on a wire rack set over a baking sheet, making sure they are not touching each other.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 3-4 hours, or until the turkey jerky is dry and firm, but still slightly pliable. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through the cooking time for even drying.
  • Allow the turkey jerky to cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Enjoy as a healthy and delicious snack!

American

Turkey jerky has a rich history dating back to ancient times when it was a staple food for nomadic tribes and hunters. This lean and flavorful snack was a favorite among Native American tribes and later gained popularity among pioneers and cowboys. Today, turkey jerky is enjoyed worldwide for its high protein content and delicious taste. Chefs and restaurants in the American Midwest, particularly in regions known for turkey farming, have perfected the art of making turkey jerky. The best versions of this dish can be found in specialty shops and farmers' markets, where the meat is marinated in a blend of savory spices and slowly dried to perfection. The key to great turkey jerky lies in the marination process, where ingredients like soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and honey infuse the meat with irresistible flavor. For a unique twist, some chefs use alternative methods such as smoking or dehydrating to create their own signature turkey jerky.
