The turkey and Swiss sandwich has a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. This classic deli sandwich features thinly sliced turkey, Swiss cheese, and often includes lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, all nestled between two slices of bread. It's believed to have originated in the United States, gaining popularity in New York City delis and spreading across the country. Renowned chefs and restaurants have put their own spin on this beloved sandwich, with variations that include adding cranberry sauce or using rye bread for a unique twist. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in traditional delis and gourmet sandwich shops. The key to a perfect turkey and Swiss sandwich lies in using high-quality, freshly sliced turkey and flavorful Swiss cheese, paired with the perfect bread and condiments.
