Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 2 cups of whole milk
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1-2 drops of pink food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of whole milk and 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer, then remove from heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of cornstarch until well combined.
- Slowly pour the sugar and cornstarch mixture into the warm milk and cream, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
- Return the saucepan to the stove and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. If desired, add 1-2 drops of pink food coloring for the traditional tubby custard color.
- Pour the custard into individual serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
- Serve chilled and enjoy!
