Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup toffee bits
- 1 cup chopped nuts (such as pecans or walnuts)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened butter, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually mix in 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt until a dough forms.
- Press the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form an even layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the crust is set and lightly golden.
- Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle 1 cup of toffee bits and 1 cup of chopped nuts evenly over the crust.
- Return the pan to the oven and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the toffee is melted and bubbly.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.
