Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  • Combine 2 1/2 cups of flour and 3 teaspoons of baking powder; stir into the batter alternately with 1 cup of milk.
  • Divide the batter in half. In a small bowl, dissolve 1/4 cup of cocoa powder in 1/4 cup of hot water; stir into one half of the batter.
  • Spoon the batters into the prepared pan in alternating spoonfuls. Drag a knife through the batters to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
