Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix the ground beef with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and form them into thin patties.
  • Place a slice of cheddar cheese on 4 of the patties, then top each with another patty, pressing the edges to seal and form 4 burgers.
  • In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, 1 teaspoon of lime juice, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to make the spicy chipotle aioli.

The Inside-Out Burger, a culinary marvel, originated in the heart of California. This innovative dish was the brainchild of Chef Miguel at a bustling Los Angeles gastropub. The concept was simple yet revolutionary - the cheese and bacon were stuffed inside the juicy patty, creating a flavor explosion with every bite. As the trend spread, Chef Maria in San Francisco added her own twist by slathering the burger with a zesty chipotle aioli, elevating it to new heights. Today, the best version of this dish can be found at trendy eateries across the West Coast. The key to perfection lies in the quality of the beef, the gooey cheese filling, and the kick of the chipotle aioli. For a unique alternative, some chefs opt for grilling the burger with the aioli inside for an extra punch of flavor.
