Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cubed
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Cooked white rice, for serving
Instructions
- Place the cubed tofu in a large bowl and sprinkle with the cornstarch, tossing to coat evenly.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the coated tofu cubes and cook until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes to the skillet, stirring to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return the cooked tofu to the skillet and toss to coat in the spicy Mongolian sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat the tofu through and allow the flavors to meld.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle with sliced green onions. Serve the spicy Mongolian tofu over cooked white rice.
- Enjoy your delicious and spicy Mongolian tofu!
