Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion is softened.
- Transfer the beef, onion, and garlic mixture to a slow cooker.
- Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, tomato paste, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper to the slow cooker. Stir to combine all ingredients.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.
- Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro, if desired, and serve hot.
