Pizza Capricciosa is a classic Italian pizza topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, artichokes, mushrooms, and olives. Created in the 1960s in Naples, Italy, by chef Raffaele Esposito, it quickly gained popularity for its flavorful and diverse toppings. The dish's name, "Capricciosa," translates to "capricious" in English, reflecting the whimsical combination of ingredients. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in authentic pizzerias in Naples, where the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients is crucial. The key to a perfect Pizza Capricciosa lies in the balance of flavors and the quality of the toppings, particularly the artichokes and ham.
