Ingredients
- 4 slices of rye bread
- 1/2 pound of ground beef
- 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup of mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of paprika
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1/4 cup of sliced onions
- 1/4 cup of sliced pickles
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of paprika to create the pink sauce. Set aside.
- Divide the ground beef into 2 equal portions and form them into patties. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and toast 4 slices of rye bread until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and sauté 1/4 cup of sliced onions until they are soft and caramelized.
- To assemble the patty melts, spread the pink sauce on one side of each slice of rye bread. Place a patty on two of the slices and top with the sautéed onions, 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and a few slices of pickles. Top with the remaining slices of bread, sauce side down.
- Return the assembled patty melts to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Slice the patty melts in half and serve hot. Enjoy!
