Instructions

  • Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box. Let it cool completely.
  • Crumble the cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl.
  • Add 1/2 cup of frosting to the cake crumbs and mix until well combined.
  • Using your hands, roll the mixture into 12 evenly sized balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  • Melt the candy melts in separate bowls according to the package instructions, adding 1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening to each bowl to thin out the candy coating.
  • Dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the melted candy coating and insert it into a cake ball. Repeat for all cake balls and let them set for a few minutes.
  • Dip each cake pop into the melted candy coating, tapping off any excess, and place them back on the lined baking sheet to set.
  • If desired, sprinkle edible glitter or sprinkles on the cake pops before the candy coating sets completely.
