Italian

The history of homemade pepperoni pizza with mushrooms dates back to the early 20th century in Naples, Italy. This classic dish gained popularity in the United States during the mid-20th century, becoming a staple in Italian-American cuisine. Renowned chefs like Mario Batali and Lidia Bastianich have popularized this flavorful combination, infusing it with their own unique twists. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in authentic Italian pizzerias across New York City and Chicago. The key to perfecting this recipe lies in using high-quality pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, and a well-seasoned tomato sauce. Alternatively, some chefs opt for wood-fired ovens to achieve that signature crispy crust and smoky flavor.
