Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3-4 tablespoons colored sugar or sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a small bowl, stir together 2 3/4 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of white sugar until smooth. Beat in 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. If desired, flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass dipped in colored sugar or sprinkles.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
