  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1/2 cup of bread crumbs, 1/4 cup of diced onion, 1/4 cup of diced green bell pepper, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.

Hamburger steak, also known as Salisbury steak, has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. It originated in the United States and was popularized by Dr. James Salisbury, a physician who prescribed a diet of minced beef for his patients. The dish gained widespread popularity and became a staple in American cuisine. Today, it is enjoyed in various forms across the world, with each region adding its own unique twist. In Japan, for example, hamburger steak, or "hambagu," is a beloved comfort food often served with a savory demi-glace sauce. For the best version of this dish, head to a classic American diner or a traditional Japanese restaurant. The key to a perfect hamburger steak lies in the quality of the beef and the seasoning, so be sure to use high-quality meat and a flavorful blend of spices. Whether you prefer the classic American version or the Japanese twist, hamburger steak is a timeless dish that continues to delight food enthusiasts worldwide.
