Ingredients
- 1 lb of gyro meat
- 4 pita bread
- 1 cup of diced tomatoes
- 1 cup of diced cucumbers
- 1/2 cup of diced red onions
- 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 cups of cooked rice
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Heat the gyro meat in a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked.
- Warm the pita bread in the oven for 2-3 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and minced garlic to make the tzatziki sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cooked rice with olive oil, dried oregano, dried thyme, ground cumin, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble the gyro plate by placing a portion of gyro meat, diced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions on each pita bread. Serve with a side of seasoned rice and a dollop of tzatziki sauce.
