Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 slices of your favorite cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- Season the chicken breasts with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the chicken breasts and rub to coat evenly.
- Grill the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through and no longer pink in the center. Place a slice of cheese on each chicken breast during the last 2 minutes of grilling to melt the cheese.
- While the chicken is grilling, heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes or until the onions are soft and golden brown.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes, until lightly golden brown.
- To assemble the sandwiches, place a grilled chicken breast with melted cheese on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a generous spoonful of caramelized onions and cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve the grilled chicken sandwiches with melted cheese and caramelized onions immediately and enjoy!
