Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 bratwurst sausages
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter with 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes until the onions are soft and golden brown. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside.
- While the onions are caramelizing, place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add 1/2 cup of milk and 4 tablespoons of butter. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm.
- Grill the bratwurst sausages for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
- Serve the grilled bratwurst with a generous portion of caramelized onions and a side of creamy mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
