- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 cups boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, sift together 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture over the batter in the baking dish.
- Carefully pour the boiling water over the top of the batter. Do not stir.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the cake is set and the edges pull away from the sides of the dish.
- Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes before serving. The center will be molten and gooey. Enjoy!
