  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika

French fries, also known as "frites" in France, have a rich history dating back to the late 17th century. It is believed that they were first introduced by Belgian villagers who fried small fish to replace their usual catch during the winter when the river froze. When the river froze, they turned to potatoes and fried them instead. The dish gained popularity in France when American soldiers stationed in Belgium during World War I were introduced to fries and began calling them "French fries." Today, the best version of this dish can be found in Belgium, where they are often served with mayonnaise or a variety of sauces. The key to perfect French fries lies in the choice of potato, the thickness of the cut, and the double-frying method to achieve a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. Some famous alternative methods for making this dish include using duck fat for frying or seasoning the fries with truffle oil for a gourmet twist.
