  • In a separate large bowl, cream 1/2 cup of softened butter with 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in 2 eggs, one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with 1/2 cup of milk, until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly into separate bowls and add a few drops of assorted food coloring to each bowl, stirring until desired colors are achieved.
