  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup fudge sauce

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 cup of whole milk, and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  • Whisk in 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder until smooth, then remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Pour the mixture into a bowl and refrigerate until completely chilled, at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • Once chilled, stir in the remaining 1 cup of heavy cream and transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker, churning according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes.
  • During the last 5 minutes of churning, add 1/2 cup of semisweet chocolate chips to the ice cream maker to mix in.
  • Once the ice cream is done churning, transfer half of it to a freezer-safe container, drizzle with 1/4 cup of fudge sauce, then repeat with the remaining ice cream and fudge sauce, swirling the fudge sauce with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  • Freeze the ice cream for at least 4 hours or until firm.
  • Scoop and serve the double chocolate chip ice cream with extra fudge sauce on top. Enjoy!
