Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices of rye bread
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup of caramelized onions
- 4 tablespoons of butter
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix 1/2 pound of ground beef with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Divide the mixture into 2 equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- Wipe the skillet clean and return it to the heat. Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of rye bread. Place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
- Top each slice of bread with a slice of Swiss cheese, a cooked beef patty, half of the caramelized onions, and another slice of Swiss cheese. Place the remaining slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
- Cook the sandwiches for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Slice the sandwiches in half and serve hot. Enjoy your classic patty melt!
