Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 packet (2 and 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 and 1/2 cups of warm water, 1 packet of active dry yeast, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the yeast is foamy.
- Add 4 cups of all-purpose flour to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 3-4 minutes until smooth.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll each part into a long rope. Shape the ropes into pretzels and set aside.
- In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water and 1/2 cup of baking soda to a boil. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the pretzels for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
- In a shallow dish, mix 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Brush the baked pretzels with melted butter and immediately coat them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
