Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 3/4 cups sugar, 3/4 cup cocoa powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt.
- Add 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
- Stir in 1 cup boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that's okay.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, beat 1/2 cup softened butter and 1 cup peanut butter until smooth.
- Gradually add 2 cups powdered sugar, beating well after each addition. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and beat until creamy.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of peanut butter frosting on top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
- Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt evenly over the top of the cake.
- Slice and serve. Enjoy!
