Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter over low heat.
- Once the butter is melted, stir in 2/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder until smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and gradually stir in 3 cups of powdered sugar and 1/3 cup of milk, alternating between the two until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well combined.
- If the frosting is too thick, add more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
- Allow the frosting to cool slightly before spreading it on your cake or cupcakes.
