Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 package of kunafa dough
- 1 cup of unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups of ricotta cheese
- 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of orange zest
- 1/2 cup of semolina
- 1/2 cup of chopped pistachios
- 1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, separate the kunafa dough strands and mix with melted butter until well coated.
- In another bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, sugar, and orange zest.
- Spread half of the kunafa dough in the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, pressing down gently to form an even layer.
- Spread the cheese mixture over the kunafa layer, then top with the remaining kunafa dough, pressing down gently again.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the kunafa is golden brown and crispy.
- While the kunafa is baking, prepare the syrup by combining 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the orange blossom water.
- Once the kunafa is done baking, pour the syrup evenly over the hot kunafa, allowing it to soak in and cool for 10 minutes.
- In a small saucepan, melt the dark chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the kunafa, then sprinkle with chopped pistachios.
- Allow the kunafa to cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
