Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 3/4 cup of unsalted butter
- 1 and 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup of hot fudge sauce
- 1/4 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
- Whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9x9 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of cocoa powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- In a separate microwave-safe bowl, melt 3/4 cup of butter. Add 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar and mix well.
- Add 3 eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- To assemble the sundaes, cut the brownies into squares and place one in each serving dish. Top each brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzle with hot fudge sauce, and sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
- Finish with a dollop of whipped cream and serve immediately.
The chocolate brownie sundae has a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. It is believed to have originated in the United States, where it quickly became a beloved dessert. The combination of warm, fudgy brownies, creamy vanilla ice cream, and decadent chocolate sauce creates a perfect harmony of flavors and textures. One of the earliest mentions of the brownie sundae can be traced to a renowned chef in New York City, who is said to have created the indulgent treat for a special event at his restaurant. Since then, the dessert has become a staple in diners, ice cream parlors, and upscale eateries across the country. Today, the best versions of the chocolate brownie sundae can be found in classic American diners and specialty dessert shops, where chefs take pride in crafting the perfect brownie - moist and rich, with a slightly crispy top. The quality of the ice cream and the richness of the chocolate sauce are also crucial elements in creating an exceptional brownie sundae. For those looking to recreate this iconic dessert at home, experimenting with alternative methods such as using different types of brownie recipes or adding unique toppings like caramel or nuts can elevate the experience. Whether enjoyed in a nostalgic diner or made from scratch in a home kitchen, the chocolate brownie sundae continues to be a timeless indulgence for dessert lovers everywhere.
