Ingredients
- 1 package of refrigerated pie crusts
- 4 cups of pitted cherries
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix together 4 cups of pitted cherries, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of cornstarch, and 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of old-fashioned oats, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix well.
- Add 1/4 cup of cold, unsalted butter pieces to the dry mixture and use a pastry cutter or fork to mix until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the cherry filling in the pie crust.
- Cover the pie loosely with aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet to catch any drips. Bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the crust and crumble topping are golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Allow the pie to cool for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the filling to set. Enjoy!
