Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter, melted
  • 4 (8 ounce) packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups of white sugar
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of melted butter. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix 4 packages of cream cheese and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until smooth. Blend in 3/4 cup of milk, and then mix in 4 eggs one at a time, mixing just enough to incorporate. Mix in 1 cup of sour cream, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, and 1/4 cup of flour until smooth. Pour filling into prepared crust.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. Turn the oven off, and let the cheesecake cool in the oven with the door closed for 5 to 6 hours; this prevents cracking. Chill in refrigerator until serving.
Dessert
American

Cheesecake has a rich history dating back to ancient Greece, where it was served to athletes during the first Olympic games. The Romans later adopted this indulgent dessert, and it spread throughout Europe. In the 18th century, American colonists added their twist by using cream cheese, leading to the creamy, decadent cheesecake we know today. New York-style cheesecake, famous for its dense and smooth texture, gained popularity in the 1900s. Today, Junior's in Brooklyn is renowned for its classic New York cheesecake. The key to a perfect cheesecake lies in the creamy filling and buttery graham cracker crust, making it a timeless indulgence.
