  • 6 apples
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of red food coloring
  • 6 wooden skewers

Instructions

  • Wash and dry the apples. Remove the stems and insert a wooden skewer into the top of each apple.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of light corn syrup, 1/2 cup of water, and 1 teaspoon of red food coloring. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Once the sugar has dissolved, increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue boiling, without stirring, until the mixture reaches 300 degrees F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully dip each apple into the hot sugar mixture, tilting the pan to coat the apple evenly. Allow any excess syrup to drip off the apple back into the saucepan.
  • Place the coated apples onto a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden. Let the candied apples cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Enjoy your delicious candied apples as a sweet fall treat!
