Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 box of cake mix (any flavor)
- 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup of frosting (any flavor)
- 24 oz of candy melts (any color)
- 24 lollipop sticks
- Sprinkles or decorations (optional)
Instructions
- Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box using 1 box of cake mix, 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, and 3 large eggs. Allow the cake to cool completely.
- Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl.
- Add 1 cup of frosting to the cake crumbs and mix until well combined.
- Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.
- Melt the candy melts in the microwave according to the package instructions.
- Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted candy melts and insert it into each cake ball. This will help the cake ball stay on the stick.
- Dip each cake pop into the melted candy melts, allowing any excess to drip off. If desired, decorate with sprinkles or other decorations while the candy coating is still wet.
- Place the cake pops upright in a cake pop stand or styrofoam block to set.
- Once the candy coating is set, the cake pops are ready to be enjoyed!
Cake pops have become a beloved treat in the world of desserts. These delightful confections are made by crumbling cake and mixing it with frosting to form small balls, which are then coated in chocolate and served on a stick. The concept of cake pops can be traced back to Angie Dudley, also known as Bakerella, who popularized them in the late 2000s. Today, cake pops are a staple at parties, weddings, and special events. Chefs and home bakers alike have put their own spin on this sweet treat, creating unique flavors and designs. For the best cake pops, look for a moist and flavorful cake base, and don't skimp on the quality of the chocolate coating. Whether you're in a bakery in New York City or a small town cafe in the Midwest, you're likely to find these irresistible treats.
