Butter cookies, also known as Danish butter cookies or shortbread cookies, have a rich history dating back to the 1800s. Originating in Denmark, these delicate treats were traditionally made with butter, sugar, flour, and sometimes vanilla. The delectable aroma and melt-in-your-mouth texture have made them a beloved classic worldwide. Renowned chefs like Claus Meyer and Trine Hahnemann have popularized these cookies in their Danish restaurants, while bakeries in Copenhagen, such as the iconic La Glace, are famous for their exquisite butter cookies. Today, the best versions of these cookies can still be found in Denmark, where the use of high-quality butter is crucial for achieving the perfect flavor and texture.
