Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup of butter. Stir in 2 cups of sugar until well combined.
- Add 4 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Sift in 3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to overbake.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares. Enjoy!
The brownie, a beloved American dessert, has a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. Its exact origins are debated, but it is widely believed to have been created in the United States. The first known mention of a brownie recipe appeared in the 1897 Sears, Roebuck, and Co. catalog. The dense, fudgy treat quickly gained popularity and has since become a staple in bakeries and homes across the country. Chefs and home bakers have put their own spin on the classic brownie, adding ingredients like nuts, caramel, and even fruit. Today, the best brownies can be found in renowned bakeries in cities like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. The key to a perfect brownie lies in achieving the ideal balance of moistness and chocolatey richness. Some alternative methods for making brownies include using black beans or avocado to create a healthier version of the indulgent treat. Whether enjoyed plain or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, the brownie continues to be a timeless dessert cherished by many.
