Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Steam the broccoli florets until tender, then set aside.
  • In a saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of butter over medium heat. Stir in 1/4 cup of flour to create a roux, and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually whisk in 1 1/2 cups of whole milk until smooth and thickened.
  • Stir in 1 cup of cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of paprika until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the steamed broccoli to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.
  • Pour the broccoli and cheese mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs with 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, then sprinkle over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
