Ingredients
- 8 biscuits, store-bought or homemade
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and bake the biscuits according to package instructions or your homemade recipe. Keep warm.
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until the mushrooms are tender and any liquid has evaporated, about 5-7 minutes.
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Gradually pour in 2 cups of vegetable broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in 1/2 cup of milk and continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the gravy is smooth and heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Split the warm biscuits in half and place them on serving plates. Spoon the mushroom gravy over the biscuits and serve hot.
