Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup chopped parsley, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the meat mixture into meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes.
  • While the meatballs are baking, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 20 minutes.
  • Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and place them in a large skillet. Pour 1 cup of BBQ sauce over the meatballs and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meatballs are coated with the sauce.
  • Slice the hoagie rolls in half and place a slice of provolone cheese on one side of each roll. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are lightly toasted.
  • To assemble the hoagies, place a generous amount of caramelized onions on the bottom half of each roll. Top with the BBQ meatballs and cover with the top half of the roll.
  • Serve the BBQ meatball hoagies immediately and enjoy!
