Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the ziti pasta and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion is softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the cooked ziti pasta. Top with half of the sausage and tomato mixture. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, sausage and tomato mixture, and cheeses.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy!
