Baked Cod with Herbed Crust is a classic dish that has been enjoyed for centuries. The recipe for this delectable dish can be traced back to the coastal regions of Europe, where fresh cod is abundant. The dish gained popularity in the 19th century when chefs began experimenting with different ways to prepare cod. The herbed crust, made with a blend of fresh herbs, breadcrumbs, and olive oil, adds a delightful crunch and flavor to the tender cod. Pairing the cod with a side of garlic mashed potatoes creates a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The creamy, garlicky mashed potatoes complement the flaky cod, making it a truly satisfying meal. Today, this dish can be found on the menus of top seafood restaurants around the world. Chefs take pride in sourcing the freshest cod and using a variety of herbs to create their own unique herbed crust. Some popular variations include adding lemon zest or Parmesan cheese to the crust for an extra burst of flavor. For those looking to experience the best version of this dish, coastal regions known for their fresh seafood, such as New England in the United States or the coastal towns of Italy, are great places to indulge in this culinary delight. However, with the right ingredients and cooking technique, anyone can recreate this dish at home and savor the delightful combination of baked cod with herbed crust and garlic mashed potatoes.
