Ingredients
- 1/2 cup bacon grease
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the 1/2 cup of bacon grease in the microwave for 30-45 seconds, or until fully melted.
- Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the bacon grease and sugar mixture. Stir until just combined.
- Beat in 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until the batter is smooth.
- If desired, fold in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs, but not wet batter.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares and serving. Enjoy!
